Tres Marias Firefly
A small firefly native to Mexico with a yellowish-green flash. It has a dark body with a pale-bordered pronotum and is found in tropical deciduous forests.
Did You Know?
Many Photinus species in Mexico remain poorly studied, with their flash patterns and mating behaviors largely undocumented.
Titan Beetle
The largest beetle by body length in the world. Adults do not feed, surviving on fat reserves from the larval stage. Their mandibles can snap a pencil in half.
Did You Know?
The titan beetle larva has never been found in the wild — scientists only know adults. The larval boreholes in dead trees suggest larvae may grow up to 300 mm long.
